Today is our last day home before heading on out to the Aloha state!!
On top of DiamondHead on Oahu - 2011
We are pretty much all packed, and all outfits are organized. I'm not a fan of wearing the same outfit twice on any vacation, so once Dave heads back to SoCal, I'll have a few outfits to send him back home with and that will also free up some space in our bags for souvenirs!
What's left to still do is my carry-on and those few last minute items to toss into the luggage.
As you know, I'm a baseball fan and yesterday we lost one of baseballs greats - Yogi Berra past on to the other side (1925-2015).
Speaking of baseball, both the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates have clinched a place in the post season. While I'm not a fan of either, I have gone to see both teams play this season!
PNC Park - Home of the Pittsburgh Pirates
Meeting on the mound, as the St. Louis Cardinals in San Diego
I promised Cosette that we would go see Dream once more before leaving on our trip, so we'll be heading that way today. And then once I get back in the neighborhood, I need to get my hair done, and my "island" mani/pedi!
Did you know that I was busy until 2:30a last night, primeraly working on the minutes for the board. UGH Since we will be gone for a couple of weeks, and it's due before I get back, I really needed to get it done. Meanwhile there are a few people that I've encountered who just don't understand why I'm doing this "job" that I never really wanted in the first place. Well, it's as simple as this.. 1. It's for an organization of which my kids have belonged to for several years. 2. When I commit to something, I make sure that it gets done!3. Responsibility is something that I take very seriously.
Another responsibilitythat I am in charge of with for the choir is being on the Travel committee, and planning out the itinerary for the 2016 summer travels.I took care of this yesterday, and it will be presented to the associates on Monday (while I am away). I luv the way the trip came out, I hope that they do too!
I ran into a bit of a hiccup yesterday... I had called the Ranch that I thought we were scheduled to do a little Horseback Riding adventure with on Sunday in Maui. Well it was a good thing that I called, because although I had it down on my calendar for Sunday, the Ranch had our reservations on the calendar for Monday! And they are closed on Sundays - this was a potential mess that luckily got avoided - thank heavens. I easily switched Sunday and Monday and it was a done deal. However if I didn't find out and we went straight over there on Sunday - this would've really tweaked my plans and I would not have been a very happy camper!
Today also happens to be Thursday... And you know what that means - it's TBT!!! This week is my turn to tell a story of the past, and I chose to tell one about none other than Hawaii! CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT
And lastly my favorite part of the day is sharing a few fun TBT pics to get your day started -

Elisa's Daily Scoop NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: 1 DAY
Did you notice that Tanya and I both depart tomorrow? She and her gang for Hawaii and me and my little girlies for Connecticut!
I want to share with you exactly what I'm packing. Mind you, I haven't started yet. That's what I plan on doing this morning. Considering it's a weekend trip and we are driving, it's a great deal easier than lengthier trips.
We also have the luxury of having the car, so if necessary, we can randomly throw necessities in the trunk such as jackets, umbrellas, raincoats, etc.
In any case, here is my list:
- Toiletry bag (of course, this contains everything from my toothbrush and toothpaste, facial cleansers, body wash, lotion, shampoo and other miscellaneous items) - 2 pairs of jeans - 3 tops - Pj's - Undergarments - Socks - Hair dryer - Hair brush - Rain Slicker (just in case) - Jacket - Make-up (of course, lest I scare anyone) - Umbrella
Pretty simple. Packing for the girls will be simple too.
Thank goodness for GPS, I just need a list of the addresses for my destinations and my trusty EZ Pass for the inevitable tolls (which, as my dear cuz pointed out, certainly add up!)
I detailed a list of my anticipated expenses is on myConnecticut "Childhood Memories" trip page, to which I will be adding any updated expenses. This way, if you are interested in copying my itinerary, you have an advanced idea of what the trip will cost you! The rough estimate so far for this trip is $1071.
Today was supposed to be the rescheduled day for making the tomato sauce. Originally, me and Danielle were doing it last Friday, but the tomato mill never arrived.
Well, it finally arrived Tuesday, but the bad news is that we could no longer get plum tomatoes as of yesterday at the original farms we were planing on getting them.
Thankfully, we called Restaurant Depot and they had another shipment coming in today, so that is what we'll be doing this morning - getting 50 lbs of plum tomatoes.
That's the good news. The bad news is that since we are only just getting them today, Danielle will need to start the process early tomorrow morning, when I'll be getting ready to head to Connecticut. AAARRRRGGGGHHH!!! so angry!
Do you know I actually considered changing my trip so I could "do the tomatoes!"
Yesterday, was a fun day with Kelsey's Girl Scout Troop's first meeting for the school year. Can I tell you how much I love these little girls!! I've watched them grow up since they were in Kindergarden and they are growing up into such nice girls!! They earned their Social Butterfly merit badge and the girls learned all about manners and etiquette.
They were adorable as we talked about table manners, how to set a table, the proper way to eat bread, phone etiquette and the proper way to take a phone message. We ended our meeting with a little lesson on writing a proper thank you note.
So very cute!!
So, I'm off to buy our 50 lbs of tomatoes now. More tomorrow as I head north to the Nutmeg state for a few days!!
Enjoy this beautiful day.
