Monday againGood day!!! Well, first I need to tell you about the excitement at our house last night. The kids were all bathed and showered and in bed; Rebecca was resting in her room, getting ready to knock out. Even Liberty was all cozy in her bed in my room. I went downstairs to lock up and put on the alarm. As I was standing there about to turn on the alarm, I heard a sizzling sound in the wall. To me, it sounded like a wire shorting out. I decided the best thing to do was to call the fire department since my house is so old and you never know. I got a very nice man on the phone who told me that he would send "someone" to the house and that I should get everyone out of the house. At this point, we were all in our pajamas so we had to quickly throw some clothes on and get outside!! So there we were - the five of us (including Liberty) outside the house when all of a sudden we heard sirens. Then we saw the fire trucks one by one coming down the street till there were three trucks, the chief's car and a police car!! I went into the house with almost 8 firemen who checked out the area where the "sizzling" noise was coming from. After some investigation, they determined that the sound was coming from behind the light fixture. They immediately turned off the electricity leading to that fixture, disconnected the fixture and capped off the wires. I have to say, these men were such gentlemen. They were aware that this particular night, we were four women alone in the house and did everything to make us know we were safe. They insisted I get an electrician immediately to fix it. One fireman even asked me for my number in order to follow up the next day to make sure we are safe. Kudos to the Garden City Fire Department! Today, I'm just catching up on a bunch of errands and waiting for our electricity to be back to normal. I will be working on our Travelin' Tuesdays feature with Tanya for tomorrow! Very excited about the upcoming week and the articles and features we will be sharing on the blog!! So, stay tuned!! If you have the Monday blues, think about this: Enjoy today!! -E | The fast second half of 2014!Here we are at the beginning of week 37 out of 52 for 2014. Can you believe how fast the second half of the year always passes? Wow! Next thing you know the holidays will be here upon us! What I really can't get over are the retail stores that already have Christmas decorations up and it's not even Halloween yet! Seriously, I walked into a store where the Halloween decorations were right in from of the Christmas lawn blow ups! Geez! Starting off week 37 also means that we only have 3 more weeks to go until the kids and I start the beginning of our road trip to meet up with Elisa and the girls for the NM Road Trip!! We are all really looking forward to that! The kids and I are starting out with a couple of nights in the beautiful high desert lovely artsy red rock town of Sedona Arizona. It's been almost 4 years since we've been there. And then off to Albuquerque, where the Travelin Cousins NM Road Trip shall commence! Kicking off the weekend with The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, which was inspiration for the trip itself! So much more to do in the 15 weeks until the New Year, and then an entire 52 weeks of plans to get out there and have fun with for 2015!! Hope you make the most of your time, and appreciate each and everyday with true gratitude. You've been given a gift, treasure it! Meet me back here for tomorrows mystery! -T |
