Holy Cannolis, it's November 2nd! Has that quite registered with you yet? I know that I'm still trying to get a grasp, and get my head wrapped around it!
Okay, first off I want to apologize to all of our subscribers who get the Daily Scoop delivered to their inbox every day. For some reason I've found that if you read our emails from your smart phone there are times (way too many times) that the page isn't properly balanced and either my column or Elisa's column is squished to one side of the screen and the other has like 2/3s of the screen - making it rather difficult to view some of the pictures and/or text.
Being that neither of us our techies - if you haven't already noticed, and this really does annoy us (especially the one who is getting squished!) My recommendation is to please view our emails from a computer and/or come to the actual webpage and read it from here. As soon as we figure out what the issue is, we will certainly correct it, but as of now neither of us have any clue what the deal is!
Well, I am coming off of a fun filled fabulous weekend and a Sunday that was just overflowing with activities and entertainment! It was definitely my kind of the assorted variety of good times!
I am thrilled to announce that the 1st Annual SoCal VegFest was an utter and huge SUCCESS and where we spent the majority of our day. Full story to be published TODAY!
And these pictures are only a mere sampling...check out the article and enjoy several more pictures of this great event!
Being that I hadn't expected to be there quite as long, I was figuring that we would go and see a matinee. Instead I decided that we'd go to a later show and we stopped and shopped at Mother's Market and Kitchen on our way home and then plopped ourselves in front of the boob tube to watch the 5th and last game of the MLB World Series.
The game was mostly a pitching dual and without much excitement until the 9th inning when things just did not go quite as hoped for by the Mets and their fans. The Met's were holding onto a very close lead of 2-0 until the top of the 9th and without going into much detail, this is when the Royals tied it up, taking the game into extra innings.
Our schedule didn't plan in for extra innings, but there was no way we were moving away from the game! We were all on the edge of our seats for the next 5 innings and watching the time tick on by. Missing the showtime that we had planned. Oh well.
Hooting and hollering at the screen we were rooting for the Mets, but could see the defeat in their eyes even before the game got busted wide open and they lost 7-2. Bummer. Oh well NY, better luck next time.
And like Elisa mentions it has been 29 years since the Mets have won a World Series title, so it sure would've been nice for them to win the last 3 consecutive games, but they just didn't have it in them. Whereas the Royals who haven't won a World Series title in 30 years - since 1985 (the year before the last time the Mets won) had more drive and determination took an early lead in the series and only lost one game to the Mets in the series. And so it is. Congratulations to all the Royals fans out there!
At this point in our night we still hadn't had dinner, and were checking the showtimes once again. We found a show that started at 10:20pm and had all agreed to skip dinner and continue with the plan of going to the movies. We had the entire theater to ourselves, saw 'The Martian' which was good, each of us well entertained with the film.
Today is another choir Monday, and I had a meeting with the travel committee regarding the 2016 IPC NorCal Trip. I've also got to finished typing up the darn minutes from the last board meeting - someone else can and better take this secretary position next term. I'm over it.
I'm sure that I'll also carve out some time for more shopping - tis the season to boost the economy! LOL
And then I'll be back with you tomorrow for another edition of Travelin' Tuesday! WooHoo.
Ciao 4 Now, -T
Elisa's Daily Scoop NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: 11 DAYS
Welcome to the first Monday in November!! I hope your Halloween weekend was Spooktacular!! I know mine was!
I woke up this morning and felt amazing! Did you ever just realize that your life has so much potential that you've yet to explore?
Well, for me, I'm embarking on a new phase of my life and I've never felt more positive!! I used to think expressions like "today is the first day of the rest of your life" were hokey. But, I'm getting corny in my old age and realize just how true this particular statement is!
Here's a few highlights from my week- tomorrow I will be chaperoning Gianna's class to the Walt Whitman Museum.
Walt Whitman Birthplace (credit: wikipedia)
The way the chaperoning works is that parents will volunteer and if they get more than they need, the names go into a "hat" and one is selected. Well, guess what...I was the lucky winner!!
Let me tell you a bit about this museum dedicated to the Long Island native poet.
What's interesting about Mr. Whitman is that by the end of his life, he had become the first American poet to achieve international acclaim.
Today his poetry is available in every major language and inspires people world wide.
The Walt Whitman Museum, which is the official birthplace of the poet, is a state historic site and is on the National Register of Historic Places. I'll tell you all about this place and our visit on Wednesday for W2GW.

Ok, so can we talk baseball for a minute -- Ugh!! That's all I have to say about my beloved New York Mets.
Now, I was at the 1986 World Series when the NY Mets played the Boston Red Sox. And I really thought, this year, 29 years later, they would claim victory over the Kansas City Royals.
But, the last two games just broke my heart with their consecutive losses, and ultimate loss of the 2015 World Series with Kansas City taking 4 wins to the Mets 1 game win.
The 2015 World Series was the 111th edition of Major League Baseball's championship series, a best-of-seven playoff between the National League champions New York Mets and the American League champions Kansas City Royals.
This yeas series was the first time since 2010 that the World Series extended into November.
So sad and so disappointing that the Mets were beat out. Here's to a great season guys and to rallying again next season!
My agenda today is fairly busy. First, I need to finish my story about Dream Come True Farm -a great destination for horseback riding on the East end of Long Island.
Then I have to make a few doctors' appointments for the kids, one of which is for the orthodontist for both girlies. I have to order Gianna a new pair of gym pants as she could barely get them on today - why do these kids have to grow so much!!
I also have some interesting work to do with our site in reaching out to many of the resources that we have featured on our site for linking on their sites. This is one of my key goals over the course of the next few weeks. I love partnering up with other businesses!!
