Hello! Well, here we are at Saturday again. Boy are these Fall weeks going fast!
It would be an understatement to say that I'm jealous of Tanya right now as she begins her trip in Iceland! From today's blog, it sure looks like she is having a blast so far!
PLEASE FOLLOW HER BLOG EACH DAY THROUGH NOVEMBER 23RD! --------------------->>>>>>>>>>>>>
My day is not going to be quite as exciting as Tanya's, to say the least. Shopping returns for the window panels I got for my den - they just didn't look right :-( Not sure what I'm going to put on the windows now. Whatever it is, I have to figure it out before Thanksgiving when I have a house full of people.
Later this afternoon, Kelsey has her swim tryouts for the CYO team she will be on with her good friend, Eileen. Actually, I'm looking forward to watching this and having some bonding time with Kelsey.
My evening is a combination of fun and work. Denise was kind enough to offer to come over to my house and help me on my continuing effort to haul old stuff and so this evening we will be tackling my basement and my indoor sunroom, as well as Gianna and Kelsey's closets.
We shall see how much progress we make as we talk, laugh and drink wine.
I'm hoping the wine will give me the strength to just get rid of stuff that I don't need. I know I will be able to think better after my house has less "stuff" in it and that will make my traveling over the next few months more enjoyable knowing my house is in order.
Speaking of trips - Tanya and I are still trying to lock in on the details of our Eastern European trip in June. Every time I think we are set with the itinerary, I get some other idea of how we should arrange the trip. Today I got the bright idea (which I didn't even share with Tanya yet) to go North and hit St. Petersburg. I'm not even going to tell her, though I know she will read this.
My wish is for Tanya to figure out how we can both fly business class on this trip. I know it would be so nice to be well rested and go on our Milestone Birthday trip like queens!! Have to find an amazing rate that she can't resist!!
I'd love to hear from you if you have any great travel plans in the works for the coming months!! Please share!!
Well, wishing I was in Reykjavik right now!! (sad face).
Enjoy the day!!! -E
We´re in Iceland Baby!
After what turned out to be a chilly Friday morning in NY. The kids and I made our way past JFK on a quest to pick up some dinner at 3 Brothers Pizza Cafe in Farmingdale. And quite the drive it was!
On the road!
We hit sooooo much traffic, and getting there took FOREVER, that even if we were hungry enough to eat there, we didn´t have the time, and had to put in a take-out order.
I sure hope these kids realize all I do to make them happy! As it was their request to eat there (one of their favs) at some point during our visit & it really just isn´t going to be possible during the week of Thanksgiving and Dominic´s birthday.
We returned the car, checked in, and waited at the gate until it was time to board. This was a good time for the kids to begin chowing down their yummy order!
At the gate waiting for our flight.
Then before you knew it, it was time to board, take a short nap, fly over the Atlantic Ocean and touchdown in Iceland! Note: That Cosette refused to nap and chose to watch movies...we´ll have to keep an eye on her attitude and performance today!
And now here we are!!!!
Good Day from Reykjavik, Iceland!
We arrived not so bright and early at 6am this morning (5hrs ahead of NY & 8hrs ahead of CA). It remained pitch black outside until almost 9:30am!
This is definitely gonna take some getting use to!
So far the weather IMO is just lovely! I think there is a delightful crispness in the air, that as of this morning all three of us just loving!
As we drove past hotels on our way to our apartment, we were viewing folks eat their breakfasts and hustle in the dark, when seemed more like dinner time to us.
Once we arrived at our Apartment, we stored our luggage, hung out for a bit, were then given our key much earlier than check-in. And good thing, because Cosette needed a nap!
After a little while, I woke her and we headed off into the city in attempts at becoming somewhat familiar with our home base for this stay.
Keep in mind that it was colder in NY than it is here! But after Cosette woke from her nap she was fussing about being freezing...
We took a nice stroll around the bay, went and saw the Sun Voyager, and Harpa.
Dominic & freezing Cosette in front of The Sun Voyager
Then continued into the cute Old Town, picked up a few food items and called it a day, heading back to our apartment and watched the sunset from our window right around 4:30pm!
The kids are cracking up over some of the outlandish words and/or street names that we are seeing, and I’m having a rather difficult time with the pronunciation of these words/names, even the simplest looking words (and there aren’t many of them) is not being understood when it is coming out of my mouth! Not enough accent, too much American TWANG! lol
So I think our goal is to be able to read a few of these signs and be understood before we leave the country… NOTE: We are going to probably FAIL terribly!
Where ever you are I hope that you are having an enjoyable Saturday & that you'll meet me back here tomorrow! -T
