Here I am back at home. Where I've got mounds and mounds of laundry to deal with... I actually still have plenty of unpacking to do (and it's not just from my trip to Portland).
Plus I really need to start the major packing chore for our trip back east - which departs in: 13 DAYS and has so many different elements to pack for.
So where is it that I'm going in 8 days???
Yup if you recall this was a "last" minute booking - or at least last minute in my book - where trips are planned out somewhere around 2 years in advance!
It'll be a short little trip, but it'll be a brand new city for me to explore and to go check out all of the vegan yums that Austin is somehow becoming know for!
Dave will be meeting me there for our little shorty trip and while we are out there we'll also be going to the Muse concert at the Austin 360 arena.
From the Austin360 website:
THE AUSTIN360 AMPHITHEATER AT CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS Circuit of The Americas is expected to draw approximately 1.2 million visitors on an annual basis through a variety of on-site sports, business and entertainment events. The Austin360 Amphitheater at Circuit of The Americas is expected to host 15-20 shows during its inaugural year, bringing national touring shows to the largest outdoor entertainment space in Central Texas. Situated at the base of the venue’s signature 22-story viewing tower, the Austin360 Amphitheater is also the largest permanent stage in Austin, Texas, which is known as the “Live Music Capital of the World.”
DESIGN INSPIRATION The Observation Tower and the Austin360 Amphitheater were designed by Austin-based Miró Rivera Architects. The architects’ inspiration was taken from the precision, dynamism and performance-driven design of race cars and evokes the excitement of extreme speed and movement. Massive red, steel tubes sweep down from the top of the Tower over the amphitheater stage, tying the two structures together. The brightly colored tubes are a prominent design feature throughout the 350-acre venue and add to the consistent visual experience envisioned by the designers. The Austin360 Amphitheater’s architectural composition is visually striking and showcases the buildings’ structural systems rather than concealing them behind a façade.
I'm still working on the food plans for Austin as well as for a few of the stops back east.
And then something else that caught my eye today and that has me thinking - is a trip to China!!
Cosette isn't too thrilled with the idea - but I think I might be able to bribe her ;)
The dates of which I can go are fairly limited being like I said - most of my trips are on the calendar for thereabouts of 2 years.
So we shall see. I'll keep you posted.
I'm about to head out and hit the gym, then back to take Cosette to her horseback riding lesson.
And the kids had to remind me that tonight is Movie Classic night at our local cinema. Tonight's movie is Men in Black. And while I can remember going to see it in the theatre when it was first released - I also wouldn't consider it a "classic". But I guess since this is the 20th anniversary of the release they are considering it a "classic".
Well that is about it for me for today.
Gotta get things done. Hope you have a good one! -T
