Memorial Day Monday!
Howdy Folks and Happy Memorial Day from Mendocino, CA!
I had a lovely day here at the Stanford Inn yesterday (as usual when visiting here).
It's really no wonder that this place is rated at the TOP of many VEGAN BUCKET LISTS - it is a MUST TRY for vegans and non-vegans alike!
Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Breakfast
Our day went pretty much as planned... We enjoyed the resort, we went on a fun bike ride, full of lots of beautiful scenery, gorgeous coastal wildflowers and then happened to see more than we had bargained for...
Lots of kayakers and canoes out there today!
On the return ride, as we pedaled our way back to Catch a Canoe & Bicycles Too, we happened upon a BUCK NAKED woman - who we took by surprise (sorry guys no photos! lol)
As soon as she heard us coming, she attempted to semi rush back across the trail to her pile of clothes and cover up. Of course she wasn't very successful at her attempts (as we were on bikes) and instead she stood there hiding behind her dressed boyfriend as she was completely in the buff and with a sheepish grin, said "hi" to us as we passed on by! (insert giggles here)
While we have grown accustom to seeing plenty of wildlife in this region, including lots of adorable deer and beautiful big horned bucks. One we have never come across (until today) have been any buck naked human beings! (insert lots-o-laughter here)
Another thing I did yesterday was spend a little bit of time researching a couple of the things on Elisa's posted "15 things to do in Mendocino" list that were of my interest. As I have already done most of the things on the list, I realized that I had actually never been to the Point Arena Lighthouse - it's no wonder I didn't remember the cool fact - The Lighthouse is situated on the closest point of land to the Hawaiian Islands in the Continental United States. It is also the tallest Pacific Coast Lighthouse!!
I'm a big fan of lighthouses and for the love of Lighthouses - why haven't I been there?! Well we are going there TODAY - thank you Elisa for bringing this to my attention!
While I've always seen advertisements for the Skunk Rail, I never really had any interest until now. So I gave them a call, and found out that they aren't currently running from Fort Bragg and won't be until July due to extensive track work. So we'll plan this for a future trip! However because of looking into this - I came up with a super fun idea that I will reveal tomorrow on TRAVELIN' TUESDAY!!
Also on the agenda for today will be going to: Bowling Ball Beach City of Point Arena and Historic Wharf and The charming town of Elk
We'll also be doing another mountain bike ride, and heading to have some fun at the beautiful Mendocino Headlands.
I certainly do hope that you are enjoying your Memorial Day weekend as much as I am!
I'll catch up with you tomorrow and fill ya in on how things are going and if I see any more "interesting" sights!
Also be sure to check out Elisa's review on all the fun she had yesterday taking the kids to see Gigi on Broadway!
Have a good one and celebrate safely! -T

Happy Memorial Day 2015
Celebrating Memorial Day on Long Island! - Another lovely, sunny day!
This has been a wonderful weekend! It is the first Memorial Day weekend in years that I have not spent out East in Remsenburg.
I miss being out east, but, I really do not regret spending the weekend at home. It's been relaxing and fun bonding with the girls and getting the things done at home that I've needed to do for weeks - no, months!!
My day in the city yesterday was a pure delight!! As usual, some of the details of my day changed lol. Originally, I planned to take the Long Island Rail Road into Penn Station.
As fate would have it - - I purchased these tickets months ago to attend with my daughters and my parents - figuring it would be a great way to extend our birthday celebration of Dad's 80th and Gianna's 11th.
But, my parents realized a few days ago, that they had committed to a golf tournament. Oh well. They gave the tickets to my nephews, but, Julian had a baseball game, so it was me, Gianna, Kelsey and Nolan for the day. As a result, I thought it just would make more sense and give us greater flexibility to take the car and drive in.
In front of the Neil Simon Theatre before seeing GiGi with Vanessa Hudgens
Lunch at Azalea was first. I'd never been to this West 51st Street restaurant before, which is conveniently located around the corner from the Neil Simon Theatre, where we were seeing a matinee performance of GIGI.
The choice to dine at Azalea was purely a "geographic" choice, and did it turn out to be a super decision!
The atmosphere was perfect for a Sunday afternoon lunch - bright and open, with a lovely wood interior and eclectic azalea artwork throughout.
I had planned to do a Foodie Friday review prior to arriving, but once we entered and our dining experience began, I was thrilled that this was going to be a fantastic review! Check back next Friday (June 5th), when I'll be posting my feature on AZALEA!!
Lunch at Azalea, NYC yesterday
All three kids were so well behaved and acted so grown up during our luncheon. I was so proud of all of them. It didn't hurt that everyone was more than thrilled with their meal!!
The big joke was that pop singer, Iggy Azalea owned the restaurant - I kept egging the kids on to ask one of the wait staff if it was her restaurant, but they couldn't be coaxed to do it.
A quick walk around the corner after some good eats, and we arrived at the theatre. I really couldn't have asked for a more perfect day - our seats were PERFECT - 1st Row Center Mezzanine.
There were only two negatives to the whole day-- 1) Vanessa Hudgens did not exit the Stage Door to meet and greet and sign autographs, which was a real let down to the kids, especially, Kelsey. and 2) My nephew spilled a caramel frappaccino in my car on the way home.
Other than that, we had a perfect time!! (off to the car wash this morning lol)
Well, my dear friends, have you visited Tanya's Daily Scoop today? She is really having a blast in Mendocino, Cali. Thanks to my 15 Things to do in Mendocino list yesterday, she is headed to the Point Arena Lighthouse (largest Pacific Coast lighthouse) today! Yay!!!
Unfortunately, she is unable to go to the Skunk Rail (also on the list) since they aren't running from Fort Bragg until July due to track work. Have fun Tanya!!
Here is to a lovely and peaceful Memorial Day! A big thanks to all our men and women who have and continue to sacrifice for our freedom!!!
