Fabulous Days in Park City
GREETINGS everyone and Happy Monday to you!
It's the beginning of a new week and the last week before Daylight savings begins.
It snow-a-plenty around here yesterday, but the weather was rather yucky and too wet for me to be comfortable hitting the slopes, so we filled our day with lots of other fun stuff!
I had a fantastic fantastic fantastic day, that it was okay not to be on the slopes.
We started the day by checking out the resort where we are staying (name TBA at a later date).
We then began driving to the Olympic Training Park and found that the route we had taken was closed in the winter. No biggie, we would take another route. But I was actually so glad that we went that way to begin with, because we got to see some beautiful landscape and parts of Wasatch Mountain State Park.
As we continued en-route to the Olympic Training Park, we drove past this freakishly frozen geyser of sorts - we had to stop!
And then I took notice that this Frozen Abstract was on a Dairy Farm that was full of happy grazing cows - it brought a huge smile to my face. I actually didn't even feel like I was in the states during this episode!
While I was out there romping about, I started to think about Jet & Chaplin and how much they are missing out on by not coming along with us on this trip. I'm sure that once we get home and they review my photos that they will wish that they joined us.
The next step was the Whole Foods to pick up a few items that I forgot back at home, and while we were there Dominic had spotted actress Elizabeth Olsen - whom I personally would not have recognized, but I guess since she was in the Marvel movie The Avengers as Scarlet Witch - it was an easy spot for Dominic.
After Whole Foods and lunch, we were ready for the Olympic Training Center and Salt Lake City Olympic Museum. We wandered about in the Alf Engen Ski Museum, before taking a tour of the premises which was guided by a retired World Champion Luge Athlete.
Once back we toured the Salt Lake City Olympic Museum. I am a HUGE fan of the Olympics and ALWAYS have been - when I'm finally happy with a winter Olympic location and go to the Olympics it will really be a Dream Trip for me! Anyhow, this facility, tour, and museums were all very cool and I'm so glad that we took the time to go!
But after all of that we were ready for a nice hot drink and a walk up and down Main Street in the Historic Downtown Park City.
The snow had eventually really started falling, and it was time to head back down to Salt Lake City for dinner and to take Dave back to the airport for his flight back to LAX. We said our good byes and then headed back up the mountain and turned in for the night.
Today we are in fact quite excited about all of that anticipated fresh powder! I can't wait!
See ya on the mountain, -T

Lots happening this week...
Howdy folks! MONDAY HERE!
Sending greetings to Tanya in Park City, Utah! Definitely catch up on her adventures!
I won't lie, I'm happy and annoyed at the same time today.
Let's get to the "annoyed" news first... Yesterday, I finished all my "to do's" early - food shopping, gas, trip to Best Buy to get ink cartridges and camera cards. Did laundry, straightened...all in hopes of getting to the Chocolate Expo at the Cradle of Aviation by mid-afternoon.
Well, "the bet laid plans" right? Turns out, Gianna has a science project due today that she waited till the last minute to do for the Science Fair this Wednesday.
I can't tell you how excited I was for this event, to share it with my chocolate-loving daughter! So, guess what we DIDN'T end up doing in order to get her project completed...we made a trip to Staples to get a few more necessary supplies and came home so she could assemble her tri-fold presentation.
Life is never predictable. Anyway, I'm hoping she gets a good grade...she had to explain what happens when you put Mentos (yes, folks, the candy) in Coca Cola (soda). Here is her project...
The demands of school really get in the way of my plans for fun events and I don't like it one bit lol.
But, here is the happy news... This week is full of two great local excursions. The first will be to the New York Botanical Gardens to the Orchid Show!
This walking tour starts in Manhattan and then travels to the Bronx by bus where it all begins. Places of interest that we will see include:
* The Bronx Walk of Fame, dedicated to our Bronx residents * The Historic District Art Deco Grand Concourse, The Grand Boulevard of The Bronx * The New Deal era murals at the General Post Place * The Bronx Museum of The Arts * Bronx Borough Hall * Yankee Stadium
My sneakers are ready and waiting!!
In other weekend news, the girls had a great time riding this weekend and did amazing with their training and jumping!
We also have some medical events happening this week as well. Both girls will need to have teeth extracted as part of their orthodontic treatments. Fortunately, they are only baby teeth.
Momma is a bit nervous but all will be fine, I'm sure!!
