Tanya's Daily Scoop TRIP COUNTDOWN Next Trip Departs In: 1 Day
An Ode to San Francisco
Hey all! Howya doing?
Today I'm glad that it's Thursday for 2 reasons... One is because I really enjoy TBT (Throwback Thursday) and sharing old pictures and stories with you. This week happens to be Elisa's turn! Read all about her funny 1985 trip down to Myrtle Beach HERE
First ever visit to SF. circa 1989
And the other reason I'm glad that it's only Thursday is because it feels like Friday, and everytime I think about what day it is my first thought is that it's Friday and that the Gladiator Rock and Run is tomorrow, and that we have to leave today! Which I'm glad isn't the case and that I have one more day!! I'm really looking forward to going to San Francisco, and to doing the obstacle course with Dave and the kids! Lots of fun things planned!!
However...I haven't finish packing, I actually barely even started. So this is a must do for today!
I took Cosette to the stables yesterday, and the horses were all finished with being in heat and back to their old selves! (Thank goodness, because last week was no fun at all!) There was a wonderful breeze blowing through the stables that felt just great and was enough to keep most of the flies away! Yes, I am a FLY hater!
Cosette and Dream (yesterday)
Here's you chance to get to know me a little better - here's some insight:
I'm the type of person who just won't (can't) tolerate aggravation - so if I get pushed to that point, then I'm done. Ya see, I just don't care anymore. I start canceling things or forfeiting plans. I will just throw in the towel - no need to fight. I just will remove whatever the element that is causing the DRAMA!
So as an UPDATE of the situation with the horse trainer - I warned her that she was gonna lose a client. And guess what...she did!
And as of last night, after many hours of planning and working on the plans for the Puerto Rico/Southern Caribbean and Dallas trip plans... Well I was ready to cancel them... Only thing is that since I am 60 days out from this trip, I am not without penalty. So if I cancel - money is totally gone - and I don't like that.
Which only leaves me to cancel the Dallas portion of the trip (an extra added bonus) that I was looking forward to; Being that we were heading there to go see a Texas Rangers game and that I could check another stadium off of my list. But alas I am over it! Easy as that.
However I would like you to keep in mind that there is a major clause here: I will never cancel something that would cause any disappointment to someone else (especially a child). Unless that person is the sole reason for me wanting to cancel in the first place and with that I would warn whomever is involved that is what will happen if the situation persists.
Now on to other things...
Well, we are potentially screwed! I'll rephrase, our plans are potentially screwed.
As you know, our little gang of four is heading up to San Jose to do the Gladiator Rock and Run on our way up to San Francisco (hence all of the SF throwback pictures)...
Our game plan is/was to camp on Friday night at the Park that the event is being held at. So with reservations made months in advance I felt pretty secure in our plan. Until... I got an alert email from the event yesterday explaining that because of the drought that California is experiencing that the event will not be offering the huge mass "party shower" to clean up after with have all been muddied up from head to toe!
This definitely sounds like an even bigger mess if we can't get cleaned up afterwards!
But then I looked to see what the check out time was and it gives us time to go back down to the campsites and get a shower. Thank Heavens! However a problem had occurred when I had called to find out about the late check in procedure. And instead I found out that all campers MUST be checked in by sunset!!! There is just no possible way that we are gonna get there by sunset.
So as of now, I am waiting a call back in hopes of making arrangements to arrive after sunset.
Crossing my fingers and toes. You do the same!
I'll let you know the turn out in tomorrow's Daily Scoop!
Until then, I hope that you enjoy the throwback in San Francisco pictures that I'm leaving you off with.
Wishing you a great day! -T

Elisa's Daily Scoop TRIP COUNTDOWN Next Trip Departs In: 14 Days
Good day to you! Wow - before I dug into my blog today, I took a gander over at Tanya's side of the Daily Scoop since it was up already.
She really hates drama!! I don't blame her but I do hope things work out so she doesn't feel compelled to cancel any of her upcoming trips!!
Tanya - B R E A T H E!! Thought of you Tanya with this quote:
Back over here -- I'm still in the middle of finals with the girls. Today was the first one -- Religion. There was so much on each girl's test. Having gone through Catholic elementary school and High School as well as a Jesuit College, I was amazed at how much I DIDN'T remember. That is a really sad commentary folks.
Tomorrow is their ELA final, but both girls are so NOT sweating that one, which means, we should not have a crazy studying night later.
Bus Tour Trip to Myrtle Beach - "South of the Border" stop circa 1985
Throwin' it Back... Today is our blast from the past day here on Travelin' Cousins. Tanya and I love to go back in time, revisit the old trips, and of course, the old photos.
You should get a kick out of my TBT (Throwback Thursday) story today from back in the day - 1985. I was 20 and into "bus tours." Something that does not really pique my interest today. (I've gotten progressively more prone to car sickness as I've gotten older.)
In any case, I somehow, talked my Mom into taking a "Domenico Bus Tour" in August of 1985 to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Now, this company went out of business about 20 years ago, but at the time, it was a very moderately priced tour company.
I had previously done a weekend Domenico bus tour with a girl friend to Montreal and figured it would be fun to try one with my Mom. Now, that's a story for another time -- my friend had a stomach virus on the way up and I had it on the way down - GOOD TIMES!

Folks, I have to apologize but I am so behind this week because of the finals and household things. As a result, I'm running late with my TBT story, so I need to get my butt into gear and go write it. I'm hoping it will be live when you receive the email today. If not, I will re-post the link in tomorrow's blog.
Tomorrow, Tanya will be telling us all about one of her Foodie experiences!!
