Well folks today wraps up our fabulous European Rail trip!
We parted ways this morning and Elisa headed into the airport for her flight back home, while I jumped on a bus and then the metro to spend the afternoon in Prague with Carlos!
It's so funny that when we got back into Prague yesterday evening and while were en route to our hotel, I totally recognized everything!
Not just the places of interest that you find in a guide book, but the neighborhoods, parks, streets, etc...and this was all thanks to Carlos and his local knowledge that he shared with us a couple of weeks ago! I gotta say that I was pretty cool "know" where we were and what was surrounding us!
So today is gonna be a bit of the same, but he's gonna show me a neighborhood I had yet to discover, being that we hadn't had the opportunity a couple of weeks ago...
Žižkov, we walked around, strolled down Mánesova, admiring the Art Nouveau buildings, found a lovely farmers market with a lucky find of vegan cookies, had espresso at a the Portuguese cafe Oliveira hung out swinging and sipping lemonades in the gardens below the creepy and weird Babies on the 216 meter-high Žižkov Television Tower, Prague's tallest structure, and where we also enjoyed lunch at the local favorite Kofein in Prague 3.
And speaking of lunch/food - today happens to be FOODIE FRIDAY, this week is my turn to tempt your taste buds with a yummy foodie find!
This week I'll be focusing on Glonojad Vegetarian Bar in Kraków Poland! I was able to go there twice and can't wait to share my pictures and thoughts with you!
Here's the but...but since I was still touring about, I'm gonna miss the editorial deadline and post a link for you tomorrow! Until then you'll find Elisa's review on our lunch at FARM in Prague HERE
Then finally I was on my way back to the airport and on my way back to NYC!
I should be landing just before the kids and Dave take off from San Diego. And within hours of my landing I'll be reunited with Birdwald Ponypants my kiddos!!
And the next "planned" voyage to Europe will be with all 3 of them! Next Spring/Summer when we head back to the Azores, visit mainland Portugal, Spain, France, and Andorra! It's gonna be super awesome!!!
Epic trips, I just can't get enough of them, and I've already been so fortunate to have had so many of them! I wish that the rest of my family enjoyed traveling. But to each his own & I'm so happy to have my cousin Elisa has the travel bug and we just had an amazing time together!
You can see all of the details, including our dailies from the trip HERE
Plus tomorrow Elisa and I will be doing a quick recap and a list our personal Top 5 highlights from the trip!
Back to today... Soooo anyhoo while strolling, hanging out, and totally in relaxing mode at the garden with our lemonades we realized that we needed to be on our way in order for me to make my flight.
Well due to unforeseen circumstances Carlos was unable to put on his lenses before heading out of his apartment to meet me at the Metro. Cut to his map loading extra slow and us (although walking in the right direction) asking for directions - we were given the wrong directions! (This wasn't the first time on this trip that we were given the wrong directions!) Anyhow we began following the wrong directions and going the wrong way! Yikes!
Luckily his map loaded and we realized that we should've stayed on course. We get to the metro and jump on the train, which took me to the bus. There we were running up the escalators and the bus was there! Whew!
But wait a minute, the driver was pulling away!
I tapped on the door and was being ignored, I tapped again and luckily he allowed me to board....but not without yelling at me in Czech!
Yea he prob cursed me out, but I made it back to the airport, picked up my bags from the hotel, and checked in, in time! No sweat! Well, actually I probably did sweat a little bit.
And here I sit at the gate waiting to board! Wow, what a day!
Catch ya tomorrow, when I'm back in my old hometown of NYC!
The life of a Wanderlust!

European Rail Trip Ends
It's just surreal that our trip is actually coming to an end today!!
It was one of the best I've ever been on!!! Tanya saw so many amazing places and had TONS of laughs!!!! Thanks Cuz for a great couple of weeks!!
Last night, Tanya and I just mellowed out. We checked into our airport hotel and had a relaxing dinner in the hotel restaurant.
Actually, the laughing continued. The waiter came over to us and asked if we were interested in having the buffet, except he pronounced it "Buff-ETT". Well, I couldn't even hold in my laugh and told him, "yes, I'll be having the buff-ett."
When taking the elevator back to the room, I noticed there was a "seat" in elevator, which I found very funny.
Spoke to Gianna via FaceTime last night and it was great to see her sweet face!
Mommy will be home in a few hours sweetie!!!

So, today is not very exciting - will be on a plane for 8 hours on my way back to New York. Of course I am very excited to return and see everyone!!
Tanya and I said our goodbyes at the Courtyard Marriott across the street from the airport. I went my way and she went her's. I'm so happy it's such a bright and sunny day for her to enjoy on last day in Prague!! Take lots of pictures Cuz!!!
