Hey there!! How are you today - almost at the weekend. One more day to go!!
I'm happy to see that Tanya's and her gang are really livin' it up out in Colorado on the slopes! If you've been following her blog, you will see that as of yesterday, they were in Arapahoe Basin! Today, I thought I'd give you some facts and information about his ski destination...
Arapahoe Basin opened in December of 1946 with help from Larry Jump and his directors including Max and Edna Dercum. The inaugural season opened with a single rope tow and $1.25 daily lift tickets.
During the first season the skier-day count was 1200. Skier-day visits jumped to more than 13,000 during A-Basin's second season. The area's gross income in 1947-1948 was reported at $30,000. Today's skier visits reach over 425,000. Straight from the Arapahoe Fun Facts Page - here are 10 interesting tidbits about this world-renown ski area!!
Well, friends, today my day is a pretty busy one.
With the big blizzard-like storm predicted for this coming weekend here on Long Island, I'm trying to get things in order and stock up on food and necessities!! If I cannot be in Colorado in the snow with my dear cousin Tanya, I can at least "feel" like I'm there with her, when the snow hits!!! See ya back here tomorrow!! -E xoxo |
