A birthday with a blast from the past
Can you believe that it's already Thursday???
Where the heck did the week go?
Time is a funny thing... It's a very valuable thing.
Yesterday we celebrated my baby sissy-poo's 27th birthday!
But she wasn't the only one who was in for a surprise...

Brigitte was in the mood for some delicious coffee and so off our caravan went to the Tustin location of Keen Coffee.
It had been years since this location was part of my weekly rounds. Yet it was like I was stepping back in time to be there...
We started out by placing our orders at the counter from what was a very extensive menu.
The gal behind the counter was super friendly, warm and incredibly helpful. She was awesome!
I love great customer service! And this experience was exactly what I look for when I'm out and about. Seriously this employee truly demonstrated what a model employee is! Kudos!!
Now back to our run in. Did I mention that it was a run in?
Well, ya see...we weren't really looking for a run in, or to socialize with rando peeps from our past.
In fact some of us had even tried to hide!

Meanwhile, I found the entire situation to be quite comical (c)travelincousins.com

But really, can a group of 10 in a little coffee shop really find a place to hide...without looking like a bunch of fools?!
Soooo thanks to my big bro not being a "rudey magudey" he got Don's attention and called him over!

I can't exactly say that either of my sisters or my mom was too happy with this new turn of events, but there we were catching up with this blast from the past acquaintance, who had many a story to tell and each with such detail...
Finally when my dear mom just couldn't listen to another epic tale she suggested that we had to all leave - which was really the truth anyhow. But sometimes she calls me rude!!! Now you know where I get it from! LOL
Next stop on Brigitte's little outing was to Whole Foods. I guess it was snack time. Personally I was still pretty full from my super yummy cafe latte, plus I knew that we were heading to dinner before much longer.

And like I said, dinner was next. Skip, Khanny, Matt, Dave and Andrew had also made it out for the food, laughs and good times that we had.

Have a gander at these inns all around the country that welcome your furry friend to enjoy some time away with you!!
One of my favorites (and right here on the east coast) is in Kennebunk, Maine.

If you have plans to be in Utah, you will not want to miss a visit to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary located five miles north of Kanab, Utah in Angel Canyon. Best Friends is home to about 1,600 homeless animals of all types from dogs to cats, horses, bunnies, pigs, exotics and more!
Although I have never personally visited the sanctuary in person, I've been a patron of Best Friends for years, since its humble beginnings back in 1984.
Today, it is not only possible to visit this heaven on earth for the resident animals that have a forever home at Best Friends, but you can even stay overnight! Click Here for more information about accommodations.

The animals have come from far and wide to this no-kill refuge, each with their own unique (and often sad) story. Some are ill, some have been neglected or abused, but in all cases, they were homeless upon arrival to the safe haven of this loving shelter and receive everything they need, physically, emotionally and psychologically, to thrive and find loving, permanent homes.
Today, I'm off to do some shopping with both Kelsey and Gianna. However, I'm going separately with each girl to have one-on-one time together.
