Tanya's Daily Scoop CURRENTLY TRAVELING IN: PORTLAND, OREGON
Blood, Sweat, and Sap
Hello out there!
Does it feel like Monday to you? These 3 day weekends always mess with my head and get me all confused as to what day it is.
Well today is in fact Tuesday and I'll be heading back down to SoCal today. We had a fantastic weekend of cycling and eating our way through Portland!
Yesterday the plan was to head on out to Hood River and do some pedaling around the Post Canyon trail system.
We had started out by attempting to eat breakfast first at Paradox Cafe before hitting the famed vegan strip mall on Stark Street. But being that I was confused as to what day of the week it was - I thought that Paradox opened at 8am (which they do on Sat/Sun) however they didn't open until 9am on Mondays. So instead of just waiting around, we decided to head on over and pick up some goodies to bring home for the kiddos from Sweetpea Bakery and Food Fight.

After fueling up, we had drove up to the Post Canyon trails, looking for the same trailhead that we biked from last year but to no avail. So rather than continuing to drive we opted to park at the Family Man lots and take off from there.

We cycled down trails like Toilet Bowl, Spaghetti Factory, Mitchell Ridge and Seven Streams. Giving us a nice overview of the area trails and even finding the Toilet Bowl. LOL

Now as much fun as we were having out there, this was the 3rd day in a row on cycling and our legs were just not as fresh as they were to begin this cycling adventure with...
As you may have noticed the title of my blog today is "Blood, Sweat and Sap" and there was blood - I took 2 spills that landed me in the brush. And Dave must've been feeling bad for me and my bloody legs, because he too took a spill - but his was more of the ridiculous kind where he just tipped over and cut his leg on the pedals!
There was also plenty of sweat. Well Dave was sweating plenty and being that it was hot - I kinda wish that I was - but I don't sweat all that easy. The heat just boils inside of me and leaves me very uncomfortable.
Lastly, yes there was sap. I sat on a stump while admiring the vista and got sap all over my butt! So I was sticking to my bike seat for the remainder of the ride.
Once we made it back to the car, we began on our way to Hood River and stopped along the way to take some pictures of Mount Hood and the pretty fields of wild flowers in the foreground.
We strolled Hood River and bopped in a few stores.
Finally heading back toward Portland, only to find a huge mess of holiday traffic and us barely getting back just in the nic of time to return our rented bikes.
All that was left to do was sip at an Ice Cream shake and go have dinner - yes in that order. We ate (drank) dessert first!
Now it's time to head home and get ready for my next trip.
Have a good one! -T

Stressed to the max
Hello Guys! I need to ask you guys to bear with me. I feel awful how I'm here and then I'm not.
I can't really get into too much here on the blog because I have stalkers at the present time, but suffice it to say, I am a bit stressed out with a full plate trying to get through the next few months.
Each day often brings something new for me to take care of or deal with and before ya know it, the day is almost over and I've missed our email deadline for the day.
All I can say is -- just bear with me and I promise, I will be back to my old reliable self before you know it!!
I love you guys and thank God everyday for your loyalty to our blog!!
And, how great is Tanya!! She always holds down the fort while I'm dealing with my personal non-sense.
Ok - back to the topic at hand - travel!!!
As you may be aware, Tanya and I have our next trip together upon us!
