It's just me and Dave on this one, and we will be celebrating our 6th Anniversary!
As you might have already realized by now, I love celebrating life! And I love celebrating occasions with a vacation!
I remember back in the day...(seems so long ago, but I guess it really wasn't all that far back) when I would throw the kids all of their birthday parties. Sure they were kinda fun - but mostly overstimulating and oh so much work! I had mentioned to the kids that whenever they would like to take a vacation for their birthday instead of having a big party that we can look at a map and carefully pick out where they would like to go! I thought it was a fabulous idea (as we were already taking trips for my birthday), and not before too long did they decide to cash in on the Birthday Trip vacation fun! And just to note, that doesn't mean we don't celebrate at home with the family. It just means that I don't have to plan, organize, and "direct" a Big Birthday party.
This year we went to the Azores for my birthday trip! - Which happened to inspire next years trip back to the Azores and onward!!
And for the kids upcoming birthdays, we are doing a trip to Hawaii! Their birthdays are 6 weeks apart, and there are years that we do a combo trip for both of them. Hawaii and Disney World seem to be repeat birthday destinations!
Maui - combo birthday trip 2013
As far as yesterday went, I had a bit of running around to do. One thing we did was go and visit Dream (Cosette's horse). While on a hot day, one can always expect flies around the stables in Southern California, but yesterday was the WORST!
It was horrendous, there were so many flies swarming around. It was really grossing me out - I really HATE flies and I could see that Cosette was getting quite frustrated too! So we cut our visit shorter than usual and carried on with the rest of my errands.
And then before 2pm we were back home and I was ready to tackle the rest of my chores! The day really felt just so relaxing, I just couldn't believe how calming it was. Usually I'm going completely nutso on the day before I go on a trip, but this wasn't whatsoever the case yesterday. It was so nice!
Everything got accomplished and we are all packed and ready to leave. I even somehow managed to pack 5 pairs of shoes along with everything else in my carry on luggage! Just gotta pack this laptop and voila!
Before heading out today, let's not forget that it's FOODIE FRIDAY and it's my turn to share a restaurant find with you. This week happens to be one of my FAVORITES! Click HERE for the review.
And the last thing on my list is going to my hair appointment. Keep in mind that I've got lots of wavy hair (these days...use to be mega curly), and that I'm going to the Caribbean = FRIZZINESS But I'm hoping that at least my hair will look good for the first couple of days! Only time and pictures will tell...
I'm gonna say ADDIOS folks, I'll be greeting you from San Juan, Puerto Rico tomorrow!
Have a Blessed Day! -T

Friday and Fabulous!
HEY THERE!! Are you excited for the weekend? I know I am.
I've got a few exciting things happening over the next few days. First, I'll be meeting with Gigi, our teen guest writer, and her family tomorrow for lunch. I cannot wait to meet this little dynamo!!
I'll be bringing my girls with me and I'm sure it's going to be a fun afternoon in the city at one of TC's favorite restaurants, Blossom. (CLICK HERE for Tanya's previously published review.)
Then on Sunday, the girls will be hosting their annual summer pool party out in Remsenburg. I'll be doing some shopping today for party supplies and food. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather forecast holds true and we get lots of sunshine!!
Red Velvet Cake baked by Gianna and her friend
The other day Gianna and her friend baked the most beautiful red velvet cake. I had hoped to post photos of this culinary work of art, but I forgot to bring my camera with me when I went out east to Remsenburg.
So, I shared it with you today!!! So proud of these girls and their baking skills!
So upset!!! Guys, I can't tell you how sick to my stomach I am right now!! (and there is no pun intended considering today is Foodie Friday).
I finally finished my Throwback Thursday article: Cooking Class in Tuscany: An Italian Girl's Dream Come True. I hit post and VOILA! It went missing!!!
I started ranting to Tanya via text at what would be 6AM her time. Bless her heart, she replied and told me she would try her best to find the article.
In any case, I'm praying it will re-appear so I can post it and link it on our Sunday Re-Cap.
So, I'm off to start the day - have to take the girls to their friends' house today for a few hours of play. Then off to shop for the party supplies!!
