Starting the School Year off Right
Well, it would be an understatement to say how unhappy my girls were to be headed back to school.
Ugh, I remember the first day of school. Hated it.
I drove the girls to school this morning - they were not happy! But, what can you do, it's the way it goes.
They'll be back into the swing in no time.
Of course, I'm not sure I will lol.
The good news is, a little routine never hurt anyone and with the beginning of the school year, comes a renewed commitment to eating well and being healthy.
Something about the summer just makes it easier to eat sweets and lots of sugar - is it just me ?
So, I've begun my week with a few commitments to healthy eating and routines:
1) Steering clear of the fast breakfast food
The girls are in agreement that we will be enjoying healthy breakfasts going forward. A few of them include:
a) Quinoa with Cinnamon & Honey and b)Sweet Potatoes.
It's easy to make a sweet potato for breakfast -- you can buy the pre-wrapped sweet potatoes in the supermarket and nuke them for 7 minutes! Gianna loves them!
As far as the quinoa - make a batch in advance, store it in the fridge and just add some cinnamon, honey, fruit and nuts in the morning. You can enjoy it cold with a little almond milk or heat it in microwave.

2) Drinking Hot Water with Lemon and Honey Daily
Are you fully aware of the health benefits of Lemons? It is an amazing fruit!!!
They prevent cold and flus, aid in digestion, have been known to cure malaria and cholera as well as nosebleeds, even shrink your waistline and so, so much more!!
Lemons contain vitamin C, citric acid, flavonoids, B-complex vitamins, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and fiber and
contain more potassium than apples or grapes.

3) Add the Following Power Foods to our Daily Diet
* Dark Chocolate (yes, that's right!)

4) Walk, Walk, Walk
Last, but not least, we are going to make an extra special commitment to walking lots more. I've already caught the walking bug and cannot tell you how good I feel!
Going to get these kiddies out with me to walk at least 1 mile a day - to burn off fat and clear their minds!! You can bet we'll be taking Punkin along with us too!
My day is pretty routine otherwise.
