HI! and a big Bonjour to Tanya and gang in France!!
I love France and the French countryside is absolutely breathtaking! I'm waiting with baited breath to see Tanya's pics from today on tomorrow's blog.
So, what a day today has been. A great deal of emotional stress.
The main focus for me today has been Gianna and her stressing over a situation she had with some of the girls at school. She was like one of 4 girls NOT invited to a birthday party on Friday night.
As a result, she expressed her hurt to the girl whose birthday it was and that is where everything went down hill. Other girls got involved - giving their opinions and thoughts and because it was all over text, everything seemed to escalate.
Why is being 12 so hard for girls? Ugh - I remember when I was in 6th grade - the bullying, the meanness, the ganging up of other girls - everyone trying to fit in. It's an awful part of growing up.
Anyway, Gianna got herself quite upset and nervous and was unable to calm down for fear that things would escalate. As a mom, it's difficult to see this, knowing that there's not much you can do because it's all part of the maturation process of working out situations and relationships.
Needless to say, my day got off to a bumpy start and I got to my blog late.
How I wish I was able to drive through the Spanish countryside and into France with Tanya!
Her photos are just so beautiful, even in spite of the rain showers.
Well, this is really a short one today folks!! Sorry about that - back with more tomorrow!
Tanya's Daily Scoop CURRENTLY TRAVELING IN: CARNAC & SAINT MALO
A Car Nap in Carnac!
Bonjour! Greetings from France!
Wow! 3 countries in 3 days!
Did you know that this is the first of 3 visits to France for me within the next 9 months??? Very cool stuff.
Anyhow, Happy Monday Folks!
When on vacation I've actually gotta check the calendar to realize what day it is. They all seem like holidays when I'm away!!
So as you know, my gang spent the day in Bilbao and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe yesterday.
It was fabulous!
And I really had absolutely no clue as to how lovely Bilbao would be - my main purpose was seeing the Guegginheim Bilbao Museum Building by Frank Gehry.
The drive over from Burgos was just B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L, the landscape was just lush, gorgeous, hilly, and green. Had I landed there via tele-porter I would've never guessed that I was in Northern Spain. Now that I've been there - well, now I'd be able to guess!
The day started out rainy and gray, but that never stopped me before.
We strolled across the Zubizuri Bridge, up and down the Nervion River taking in the sights and taking in the lovely and might I add very clean city. It was really all quite wonderful!
Please enjoy some of my pictures from yesterday:
Can you believe that I'm touching a spider?!
The skies had then began to clear and we had a lovely lunch at La Camelia before heading over to the coast and to trek up to the hermitage at the top of the islet Gaztelugatxe. I love this type of stuff - it was such fun!!
And finally after we had done lots and seen lots, it was time to do lots of driving at cross the French border. Already having called our upcoming hotel to inform them of a late arrival, we were on our way.
I was quite jealous of my sleeping children in the back seat and I continued to drive drive drive us to Carnac, France.
Only to finally arrive late (very late) at our hotel to find that the reception desk closed at 11:30p! And there wasn't a soul around. I tried calling and the phone just rang and rang.
We had no option but to try and sleep in the car - until the office reopened in the morning! (insert one big fat huge UGHHH)
YUP - we had to sleep for a couple of hours in the car!
Checking in this morning, only to get a couple more hours of sleep and clean up.
We've got another highly anticipated day ahead of us and I get wait to get on out there and explore!
Day 4: Saint Malo, France Activities - Carnac Stones in Carnac, Les remparts de Saint-Malo, Saint-Malo Cathedral, Soldior Tower Must be on our way!
Catch ya back here tomorrow for more SCOOP from today :) -T
