I'm baaaack in good 'ol Queens, New York. (just in case you ever wondered about me being a Princess) Well today was the first day that I actually didn't have to get up and at 'em from the moment that I rolled out of bed since leaving on my trip almost a month ago!
And boy did I need it... On Tuesday night, after the MLB All Star game and some quick adjustments to our luggage I only got 2 hours of sleep before having to get up and head out on what turned out to be one heck of a LONG day!
But on the up side, I did get to squeeze in a quick visit with my Aunt and Uncle (Elisa's parents), which was a lovely surprise! Plus I got to meet cute little Mikey (the Yorkie pup)!
At least somebody got to sleep!
The actual drive itself was mapped out at 10.5hrs and the driving was all meeeee, but with traffic and storms it turned out that we were in the car for 15 hours! UGH
At little treat for the drive!!
And while we were catching up and story telling, the kiddos all got to hang out and run around for a while..
As for TODAY it is kind of a kick back sort of day. I have some shopping to do for the trip (also at Fairway), plus I'm still in dire need of getting my nails done and then back to my Grandma's for the rest of the afternoon/evening. We are expecting at least one cousin who I haven't seen in a few years to stop by and visit.
Being that today is Thursday that also means that here on Travelin' Cousins it's TBT (Throwback Thursday)! I'll be posting a TBT about a very fun Road Trip that I took back in 2007... Stay tuned and I will add a link to this page and of course it's be posted on the home page as well!
And that's about it for today folks... Here are a few TBT photos for you to enjoy!

Best Packing Tips
Hi there! BUSY, BUSY TODAY!!
Selfie of Me and "Mikey"
It's going to be a packing day for us. Having said that, we'll also be doing some shopping as well.
With our Niagara & Toronto road trip getting underway tomorrow, I'll need to get a few essentials for the journey.
I'll get back to that in a few.
But, first, I wanted to tell you about last night.
I had some errands and shopping to do so I took Gianna, Cosette and Kelsey to my mom's house for dinner and to hang out. My kids love hanging out with my dad's teacup Yorkie, so they were stoked.
Since Tanya was on her drive back from her All-Star road trip, I told her to just meet us over my parents house, so they would have an opportunity to see her - the last time they saw each other was back in November for Thanksgiving.
The kids, including Dominic at this point, had fun hanging with one another and enjoying Mikey.
Tanya and I, on the other hand, shot the breeze with my mom, telling her all about our adventures on our European Rail Trip.
We had a good laugh at our own expense, re-telling two of our favorite tales from the trip: When I caused us to miss our train stop in Bratislava (YIKES) and when Tanya had the fight with the rude manager at the "Tourable" City Tours in Budapest.
Back to today... First, I'll be packing for me and the girls. This trip is a pretty easy trip packing-wise. It's only 7 days, so 7 outfits should do it for each of us and then the addition of a few incidentals such as swim suits, flip flops, rain slickers (just in case), a few sweatshirts in case the evenings get cool, pj's and toiletries. Voila! We are done.
Additionally, since this is a road trip starting from home, I can pack food directly from home-base. I'll be making a trip over to Fairway today to get some fruit and snacks for the drive, and pack a good supply of water as well.
Lastly, the girls and I will be heading over to Best Buy to pick up a multi-plug charger for the car. This way, phones, iPods and laptops are all easy to use by everyone on board.
Our Cousins road trips always involve musical cars with the kids going back and forth from one car to the other as we caravan.
And that folks, with the inclusion of some weeding in my garden, is my day!!

TIPS FOR PACKING WISELY As today's Blog Title indicates, I want to share with you a few secrets for packing wisely.
As travel mavens, Tanya and I have both developed some techniques for efficient packing. We have different styles, but in the end, working and traveling with each other for a while now, I have found that i have morphed and adapted to her style. Here are 3 Helpful Hints to Packing:
1. Check the weather forecast for your destination Knowing the weather is the most obvious part of deciding on which clothes and shoes to bring.I don't think much elaboration is needed here.
2. Always have your Daily Itinerary handy when packing: When planning what to wear, it's important to know where you are going and what you are doing since this might impact what you will be most comfortable wearing. Will you be indoors or outdoors? Will you be walking a lot? Are you going somewhere that requires specific attire (i.e.: many churches require that knees and shoulders be covered for women)
3. Plan 1 Outfit per day: Knowing what you will be doing each day will enable you to plan what the appropriate attire is to wear. Tanya's approach is to pick an exact outfit for each day of the trip. This is a great strategy since it alleviates the thought process in "deciding" and deliberating over what to wear each day of your trip.
The key to planning your outfits for each day is to know what you will be doing and where you will be going. The end result of being so methodical is that you wind up packing much less than you normally would if you just leave things to chance and throw a "bunch of tops" and a "bunch of bottoms" willy-nilly in your suitcase.
Hope this is helpful for your next trip!!!
Well, folks, here's a little throwback to 2000 at Niagara Falls!
