Elisa's Daily ScoopAnother Happy Easter OverWhat a lovely day Easter Sunday was this year!! The weather couldn't have been nicer and the day spent at "Nonna Nancy's" house was full of laughs and good food! It was a small crowd this year. My family and Danielle's family. Carlo's brother and sister went to their respective in-laws houses for the day. The kids had a blast together. They spent a great deal of time before dinner watching "Caught on Video." It was pretty amusing watching them yell and scream throughout the various scenarios. Nonna Nancy's cooking is so scrumptious! She made a great deal of meat dishes including beef, Braciole, meatballs, roast beef and even rabbit (I know - it's a very Italian dish). However, there was also plenty for the non-meat eaters (or should I say non-meat EATER, lol) which included a great salad, broccoli rabe and pasta with a delectable tomato sauce! Some of the Delicious Easter Sunday Food New Week Ahead... With the kids off from school this week, I've got a number of things on my agenda. Today, I'll be continuing my hauling effort in the house - working on the basement first and making my way up to the office. We'll see how far I get. I decided I'm going to take photographs of all the toys and belongings that are in good shape, so I can post them for sale on a neighborhood website. I figure I mind as well make a few bucks, if possible. Tomorrow I'll be headed out to Remsenburg again to work on the house we have up for sale. Going to be painting and organizing a bit. This time, the girls will tag along with me since I'll be seeing Lisa and she will bring Sarah. The girls can't wait to get together!! I'd like to do a few fun things this week with the girls. We'll have the entire ride out East tomorrow to discuss it - I'm thinking maybe Friday might be a good day to do something. Saturday night, I have tickets to see Ernani at the Metropolitan Opera. I'm really looking forward to it. Haven't been to an opera in several years. This one features Placido Domingo - what a treat! Hope your day is all you want it to be!!! See ya back here tomorrow! Coming off of a 22 hour day - yup you read that correctly my Easter was 22 HOURS LONG!!! I definitely wasn't planning on waking up super early this morning. And I didn't. (insert happy face here) Happy to report that I'm refreshed and ready to tackle a new week! Yesterday was Full of Family, Friends, and Fun! But boy oh boy, were my poor tootsies (my feet) ready to come out of high heels - I even wore them to participate in the Team Scavenger Hunt that we played! The day started with the dreaded 2am wake up call. But although we only got around 3hrs of sleep, it was easy peasy to wake up and start the marathon day! I was bright eyed and bushy tailed, and started the day with my 100 Day Fitness Challenge...yup at 2am in the morning! (I'm a bit of crazy!) Next up we headed over the the Vegan Friendly Donut Shop. Which (although you can't tell from the pictures) was actually bustling! I'm thinking that the crowd we witnessed were not up for the new day, but still awake from Saturday!! Then off to the Easter Sunrise Service - where the kids and their choir did a wonderful job as the sun came up behind them and brightened the day! Once the service had ended we headed into LA for breakfast. The plan was to go to a place called the Vegan Joint, but they weren't opening until 9am. I didn't feel like waiting, so we changed plans and started heading over to an old favorite M Cafe, which usually opens early for breakfast - only to find that they also weren't opening until 9am. Ugh. I did a quick search on Yelp for something else that would be local and suitable, and found a place called Fratelli's Cafe that was literally kitty-corner from where we were at! We had a nice breakfast and then finally made our way back home. Chaplin was ready to find her Easter Basket, and so began the Family Easter Festivities! The 3 kids (Mika was still not here yet) had all searched for their baskets. Each one of them excited by what the Easter Bunny had brought them! Dave B, who had already surprised me with 3 Beautiful Easter Bouquets... Surprised me again with my own Easter Basket (Tote) filled with goodies!!! I was so happy that the Easter Bunny hadn't forgot about me! Mika arrived and we did the Hunt for Easter Eggs, and then caravanned to the Irvine Spectrum for some Scavenger Hunt Fun! By this point I was beginning to loose a bit of my steam, but knew that the day/night still had many hours ahead of me... After the Scavenger Hunt, we went to Whole Foods Market just to grab a few things and then back home. It was time to hang out and wait for dinner. Yesterday was pretty much the only day of the year at home where dinner was being made for me and not by me! It was a nice break!!! During the "break" Jet and Andrew had set up a cake crafting table, were we each tried our attempts at making mini Bunny Cakes! Michael came home (he had to work), we took our Annual Family Easter Picture. After that, I was finally able to change out of my dress and get more comfortable! Then dinner was served and we had Raviolis GALORE, Broccoli Rabe, Vegan Italian Sausage, and Wine Infused Garlic Bread (Regular Garlic Bread for the Kiddos). YUMMY YUM YUM i totally filled MY TUM! And that my friends was my 22 hour day Full of Family Fun! Hope you enjoyed all of the pictures shared and that you had a wonderful holiday too! Catch ya back here tomorrow, -T |
